Sarah Yang, a resident of Vancouver, Canada, began her violin studies at the age of 8. Now 16, she actively participates in her community through orchestras, chamber ensembles, local festivals and performing in senior homes. She is currently studying with Jeanette Bernal-Singh, and has also studied with Lucia Schipperus and Patricia Shih. After years of being immersed in music, working with peers and being inspired by her instructors, she has dedicated herself to music and believes that “we could be given all the freedoms we could ever ask for, but nothing will ever be as exquisite or genuine as the freedom of expression given through music.” Sarah was the Concerto Competition winner at the Langley Community Music School in 2014, appearing as soloist with the school’s orchestra, and has won several other awards at the school as well. She hopes to be a freelance musician as a teacher and chamber musician in the future.
