Julia Kociuban – Poland

Julia Kociuban – born in Kraków in 1992. She started her piano education at the age of 5. In years 1998 – 2006 she was tutored in piano playing by Olga Łazarska. Since 2007 she studies with Prof. Piotr Paleczny, now at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
Julia Kociuban is a multiple Grand Prix prize-winner, laureate of first places and special prizes in many national and international piano competitions. 9th Milosz Magin International Piano Competition (Paris, 2005) 3rd International Chopin Competition for Children (Jelenia Góra, 2005), 4th International Competition for Young Pianists “A step towards mastery” (St. Petersburg, 2007) and lately in the National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition (Warsaw, 2008).
In 2011 Julia Kociuban won the Jury Prize at ‘Jeudis du Piano’ in Geneve (Switzerland) and 3rd prize at the 3rd European Piano Competition in Ouistreham/Caen (France). She is also a laureate of various prestigious scholarships (i.a. Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage).
She has worked with many outstanding pedagogues such as W. Mierżanow, M. Voskresensky, I. Monighetti, G. Wyss, J.C. Pennetier, J. Rouvier, T. Ungar, J. Soriano, A. Jasiński, K. Popowa – Zydroń, K. Helwig, D. Kim, E. Wong, O. Maisenberg and M. Raekallio.
She has given concerts in Poland, France, Germany, Russia, Kuwait, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine and in Lithuania. In April 2009 she was on a 3 week concert tour in the USA. She was invited to play in many festivals (lately on International Piano Festival La Roque d’Antheron, XIV Ludwig van Beethoven Ester Festival in Warsaw and 64th International Chopin Festival in Duszniki Zdrój).
She performed many times as a soloist with accompaniment of various orchestras i.a. Philharmonic Orchestras of Krakow, St. Petersburg, Lower Silesia, Silesia, NOSPR, Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Dawid Ojstrach Festival Orchestra in Parnu, Chamber Orchestra of Tallinn, Orchestra Lamoreux, the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Przemyśl, Silesian Chamber Orchestra and Fryderyk Chopin University Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw conducted by: J. Salwarowski, M. Dworzyński, M. Nałęcz-Niesiołowski, N. Krauze, Ł. Borowicz, R. Bader, M. Tworek, N. Järvi, E. Klas, M. Nesterowicz, M. Caldi, P. Przytocki and J. Swoboda.
She also gives concerts with her brothers in “Family trio” and DUOKociuban.
