Ben Su – Singapore / Canada

Ben Su’s passion for playing classical music was first sparked at the age of six, when he observed his sister playing the piano.  Shortly after, he asked his parents to sign him up for piano lessons, and has since been under the tutelage of Bernard Duerksen, Leslie Janos and Elizabeth Bergmann at the Langley Community Music School.

Born in 1996 on the island-city of Singapore, Ben moved to Canada with his family at the age of 2. He started performing as a solo pianist in 2008 at various music festivals and competitions, and has won numerous awards and scholarships.

In 2012, he won the Rose Bowl Award for Most Outstanding Performer at the Chilliwack Music Festival and 1st place at the Vancouver Friends of Chamber Music Competition with his chamber music group, the Agilemente Trio.

In addition to being a solo and chamber music performer, he is also part of a winning piano duo that won 1st place in the Junior Duo category at the 2010 Northwest International Piano Ensemble competition.
