Alexandra Frosh, a native of Chevy Chase, Maryland, began studying viola at age 7. In 2005, she won first place in the Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition for Low Strings. She received an Emerson Scholarship to attend Interlochen Arts Camp in 2007. She spent the summer of 2008 with the Tanglewood Young Artists Orchestra, sitting as principal for the July 25th program. She has had the privilege to be involved in other exciting programs, including the Burgos International Music Festival, Charles Castleman Quartet Program, Aria International Summer Academy, and Banff Festival Orchestra.
As an undergraduate at Stanford University, Alexandra studies viola with Lesley Robertson of the St. Lawrence Quartet. This year, she was principal violist of the Stanford Philharmonic Orchestra.
