Thao Le Thanh – Vietnam / Poland

Thao Le Thanh, originally from Vietnam, moved to Poland at the age of 6, and at 10 she started taking piano lessons.

Thao has taken part in national and international piano competitions in Poland, in which she was granted top prizes, such as 1st prize and special prize for the performance of an obligatory work by Mozart at the Ludwik Stefanski National Piano Competition, 2nd prize at the 8th International Piano Competition “Chopin for the youngest, 1st prize at the Polish Radio BIS 1st National Piano Competition “Chopin Junior”. She has performed in major concert venues in Poland such as the National Philharmonic (Warsaw), Lutoslawski Concert Studio of Polish Radio BIS (Warsaw), Szymanowski Museum “ATMA” (Zakopane), Chopin House (Duszniki Zdroj).

Thao has attended The International Masters Piano Festival in Duszniki Zdroj and Music Festival for Competition Prize-Winners in Krynica Gorska. She has been a member of the “Polish Children’s Fund” which supported exceptionally talented musicians by awarding scholarships and organizing concerts and festivals.

Thao received her Bachelor of Music from The Manhattan School of Music, New York. She was chosen by the Associated Music Teachers’ League to play at “Young Musicians Concert” at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall. She has also attended the International Keyboard Institute & Festival in New York.

Thao has played with the Brzewski Chamber Orchestra, The National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and in 2010 was invited to play with The Ho Chi Minh National Philharmonic Orchestra at the Summer Music Festival in Ho Chi Minh City.

Internationally, she has given performances in Austria, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany, The United States and Vietnam.

Thao has worked with renowned musicians such as Viktor Mierzhanov, Alexander Kobrin, Tatiana Shebanova, Akiko Debi, Marc Silverman, Solomon Mikowsky, and Yury Maevsky.

Currently Thao is a postgraduate student at The Royal College of Music studying with Dina Parakhina.
