Born in Bucharest into a a family of musicians, Razvan Popovici studied in Salzburg, Paris and Freiburg. He is a member of the Ensemble Raro, with which he tours regularly Europe, Japan and North America.
As a soloist and chamber musician he has appeared in the Théatre-dés-Champs-Elysées in Paris, the Cologne Philharmony, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Wigmore Hall in London, the Musashino Hall in Tokyo, the South Bank Centre in London, the Prinzregententheater and Gasteig in Munich and both in the Konzerthaus und Musikverein in Vienna.
He has performed with Natalia Gutman, Konstantin Lifschitz, Alexander Lonquich, Radovan Vlatkovic, Daishin Kashimoto, Gilles Apap, Thomas Demenga and Martin Lovett at the Lucerne Festival, Wiener Festwochen, Schwetzinger Festspielen, Harrogate Festival, Ferrarra Musica, Oxford Chamber Music Festival, Boswil Sommer, Kobe Music Festival ans many other important festivals.
Razvan played as an extra player with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and has been guest principal violist in many orchestras including the Cologne Chamber Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Kobe Chamber Orchestra.
Razvan gave master classes in the Czech Republic, Japan, Italy and Romania.
Razvan is founder and director of the Chiemgauer Musikfrühlingin Traunstein and chamber music series Pélerinages in Munich, Germany and of SoNoRo Festival in Bucharest, Romania.
