Hui Ma, born in China, began her studies at the Shanghai Music Conservatory in 2004 with Prof. Wu Fei und Wu Zulian. In 2012, she began her MM studies with Prof. Friedemann Weigle at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule in Berlin and at the same time studying chamber music with Prof. Eberhard Feltz. She has attended masterclasses with Prof. Nobuko Imai, Shanghai Quartet, Prof. Walter Levin, and Prof. Antoine Tamestit.
Ma Hui has won prizes at many competitions including the International Ehingen Music Competition, the National Scholarship Foundation from 2008 – 2010, and second prize at the „5th International Competition ‚Giovani Musicisti Città di Treviso’ Italy“.
An avid chamber musicians, she has performed with her Quartet, Simply Quartet, throughout China. They were invited to perform at the Australian Hall of the EXPO in Shanghai 2010 as well as for the visit of the Chinese Premier to Berlin in June 2013. Simply Quartet has also taken part in masterclasses at the European Chamber Music Academy, and won first prize at the Border Cup Chamber Music Competition and at the Haydn National Chamber Music Competition in Shanghai in 2008. She has also performed with Prof. Wolfgang Meyer.
Ma Hui has also served as Prinicipal Violist of the Shanghai Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2008 to 2011 as well as the Hochschulorchester of the Hanns Eisler Hochschule in Berlin.
